at the end of 2021 i was once again enlisted to provide key art for Ali Wong’s third Netflix Special, Don Wong. this time shot at a large studio, with a large crew and a classic car – we’ve come a long way from shooting baby cobra in my living room with my son crawling around the seamless, or even a long way from shooting hard knock wife in the lobby of Netflix HQ in Hollywood.
i can’t express how grateful i am to have been able to shoot promotional artwork for all three of ali’s comedy specials. seeing billboards around town here in Los Angeles has been immensely gratifying, and beyond that, there’s even a billboard in times freaking square. that’s got to be a bucket list item for a photographer. my thanks, as always to Ali for bringing me on board yet again, to PJ for helping out and to all the people at Netflix who pulled together to make this happen. thanks to axel for spotting the times square billboard, running back and sending me this photo!
the special was released on valentine’s day 2022, and it’s hilarious. go watch it now and tell netflix you like the artwork so much that whoever did it should be hired again to do everything, always.
