as a photographer i often have
to intrude on people's busy lives and take them away from their routines.
usually, they're very pissy about it, and usually i don't tend to
care much, since they're not really doing anything that important.
but every once in a while i wind up shooting someone like keith black.
in the hour or so he sat for me he probably could've saved someone's
life – instead, i have a picture. so, to that mystery patient,
i offer my sincerest apologies. i sure hope you were still able to
schedule something. but aside from being gracious and patient and
accommodating, dr. black is a fairly reknowned neurosurgeon who's
often the last hope for patients with brain tumors other doctors won't
touch. he also leads a research team at cedars sinai hospital which
has, among other things, been working on a vaccine for certain tumors. |
