this was shot at a press junket for the squid and the whale. it's nice to know that a certain natural history museum exhibit made a big impact on another kid besides me, back in the seventies. while i was setting up this shot, i happened to ask the publicist how tall he was. she didn't know, but a ridiculously beautiful girl waiting in the hallway said, "oh he's kind of short". "kind of short, like me?" i asked. her response: "oh no, he's taller than that." score one more point against my self esteem. for the record, noah baumbach: 5'10.5". me: 5'7"
