a funny thing about mort sahl
(aside from him being an influential comedian) - i found out that
my mother almost married him, before she went for my dad. this is
something that was news to me until the day before i did this shoot,
and i happened to mention it to my parents. mort was very surprised,
too. of my mother, he said: "we really tore it up". this
was taken at what mort refers to as his "office" - the starbucks
on the top of mulholland. mort didn't get out of his corner chair
the whole time. thanks to dana collins at city beat for the assignment,
and for letting me meet the man who was almost my father. |
