thomas baldwin, chief knowledge officer for reed smith
Written on June 10, 2012

before i met tom baldwin i didn’t even know there was such a thing as a chief knowledge officer. it sounds like the kind of title you get when you’re an executive at a high powered corporation/government entity in a sci-fi movie. apparently, though, this kind of thing happens a lot. so tom is the chief knowledge officer of a big law firm called reed smith. they’ve got offices all over the states, and all over the world. that means there are a lot of lawyers generating a lot of information and needing easy access to it. that’s (one place) where tom comes in. he creates and manages systems that let the employees of reed smith access all the accumulated information and – yes – knowledge that firm has ever generated. if you’re an analytically minded and highly organized guy, this is a dream gig, i’d imagine.
