my mother and the new york times are inseparable. she spends a great deal of time pouring over the paper and sending me clippings. sometimes she figures out how to do this electronically, in which case i get three or four of the same email right in a row. my mother has done a great many amazing things in her life but she’s such a news junkie that i’ve always been amazed she hasn’t found herself working in news in some way.
