uncle howard, before and after
Written on March 12, 2008

last year my uncle howard was diagnosed with stage IV lymphoma. he underwent a very aggressive treatment regime and partway through i had taken some pictures of him at a family dinner (below). howard was nice enough to let me take the photos in the midst of his chemo with the condition that we do a reshoot once he’s cancer free.
he was very lucky in that the initial treatments worked. soon his hair grew back, he was given a good prognosis and felt great. we were all very relieved. at least for a little while.
recently he learned that the cancer had reoccurred, in an even more aggressive form. so these new pictures (white shirt) were taken the night before he was to begin another round of chemo.
when i talked to uncle howard today he said he’d been dizzy and nauseous from the chemo, and they had given him a prescription for medical marijuana. he said it makes him feel very relaxed, and he likes it except for the hallucinations. he said “i tried it and hallucinated that the stock market went up 400 points.”

What more can you say. Medical Marijuana Works.
