i am not left-handed

okay. well, lots of updates to get to, but you’ll have to forgive me if my captions get a little messier than usual. about a week and a half ago i made the mistake of trying to clean up around here. in doing so i had a nasty encounter with a piece of my bathroom sink that was chipped. the thing was like a knife and sliced deeply into my right index finger. being on coumadin it took about eight hours of me sitting in the ER for the thing to stop bleeding. docs were just about to put four stitches into my finger when it stopped enough to allow them to superglue it shut instead. i was able to get approximately 45 minutes of sleepbefore having to head out to a shoot in santa ana. (more on that later) this bandage was just temporary while i waited to be seen by the doctor. now for the past ten days or so i’ve had a big metal splint on the finger to prevent me from bending it and busting the wound open again. honestly, the novelty of the big bulbous metal finger is wearing thin.
also, getting lidocaine injected into your hand (between the fingers, three injections) hurts like hell. the fluid swells everything up and burns. i was sitting in the ER for so long they had to do this twice because the first round wore off.
taking pictures is now a bit inconvenient. it’s my trigger finger. on that note, thanks to corporal bennet for stepping in and saving my ass. thanks also to bill smith for the ride to the hospital. thanks also to the poor doc who had to sit there and put pressure on the laceration for an hour to get it to stop bleeding. he seemed entertained by my medical history, though. i’ve got to be more careful.

likely story–bathroom sink. sounds like a squirrel portrait session gone awry to me.
well, toni, i’m afraid you still have a much better story than me. did you get the lidocaine block in your hand, too? damn, that’s awful.
no, but i’ve had the lidocaine injection in a far more sensitive area. i guess i am prone to ridiculous injuries.
how’s the finger healing?
