i was a huge comic book fan as
a kid, and stan lee is practically an icon unto himself. the guy invented
spider man and the x-men! i wanted to shoot him on 4x5 with my speed
graphic, which promptly broke the minute we got there. stan was really
nice about everything and even let me return the next day to shoot
some more when i fixed the camera. he wouldn't remove his sunglasses,
though, so we ended up doing a profile. all in all, it worked out
pretty well, and when i sent him a print i got a thank you card with
spiderman drawn on it. he said it was very "arty", so i
guess that's good. i remain a devoted fan, and i'd put my money on
anything this guy does. |
